With the slogan “Owned by the people we serve,” Gibson Cooperative prides themselves on being a community driven cooperative offering up internet and utilities to the rural area of western Tennessee and parts of Kentucky.
The Design Process
Gibson Connect and Electric
Blake Barnes worked with the marketing team at Gibson Cooperatives to revitalize their logo. The primary goal was to provide an identity consistent that was familiar to their customers but simple and versatile. The exploration process consisted of many custom letter sketches and icons to rule out alternative options and determine which was most natural and timeless direction for the brand’s big refresh!
The Results
Gibson Connect and Electric
A solid and simple G shape was chosen with variable type as the final result. A new visual identity with refreshed stationary, type, and brand standards offer a more modern and simple feel. Pushing their identity in this direction allowed for consistency when branding together as well as a distinguished separation when shown apart. The overall refreshed design is timeless and simple enough that it will remain relevant for years to come.
